Rough Day!

Nathan had a rough time this afternoon.  He dropped "IT" into the water, off the edge of the dock and he could not go into the water by himself to get "IT" back.  He decided to stand, sit, lay, etc. on the deck in various positions and pout until his dad would come to help him.  This was very funny to watch from a distance since he had no idea that we were watching.

Here was the progression:

Will someone come help me?

No one is listening to me!

I wonder what everyone is doing up in the condo?

 Pouting...

 Waaa

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

They were only a few feet away.

 Is anyone paying attention?

How about if I lay down?

What if I move closer?

 Still no one!

Is "IT" still in the water?

 Picking sand off my toes.

Not even my friend "Bella" can help me with this problem.

 Dad coming to my rescue.

Dad took off his shoes so that he could wade into the water to get "IT".

Hurray!  My Hero!

You will never guess what "IT" was that fell into the water.

Transportation

Most people and things must be transported by boat since there is only one dirt road coming from town.  Today I was amazed to see this boat pull up to the dock.

Moon

Tonight we decided to go into town for dinner.  As we traveled back to the condo (in the dark, by boat), I noticed how beautiful the moon was in the dark night sky.  As soon as we came back I got my camera and decided to try and capture some of the beauty.

The night sky is so beautiful in Belize, the moon always seems so close and bright as it rises over the horizon and reflects off the Caribbean sea.  It is amazing how many stars that you are actually able to see since there are so few lights interfering with the view.

Such a beautiful night!

Pineapple Salsa

Each time we come to Belize we love to make fresh "pineapple salsa."  Nothing is better than fresh salsa unless you also get to eat it while sitting around the pool with friends.  My favorite place to eat this fantastic treat is on the deck looking out across the water with the warm ocean breeze blowing through your hair.

Fresh Pineapple Salsa

  • 1 ripe pineapple
  • 6-8 medium tomatoes
  • 2 medium green peppers
  • 2 large white onions
  • 4-5 limes
  • 2-3 small bunches of cilantro

Sea Life from the dock...

There is always interesting sea life to investigate when we come.  It is always wonderful to go snorkeling at several sites.  It is always amazing to see what lives, grows, swims, and blows in right around the dock and palapa.

"Andrew, Nathan, Alyssa, and Mandy, what do you see down there?"

It is amazing how fast they grow.

Carribean Breeze

There is almost always a light ocean breeze blowing.  The breeze is one one the things I love about visiting Belize.  I can sit on the deck reading a book, on the beach or beside the pool soaking up the sun, or just hanging out in the hammock and let the breeze just blow away all my worries.  This is one experience that I always tell people that I wish I could just bottle and bring home.

Alyssa loves swinging in the hammock!

Not only are the light and warm ocean wind currents relaxing but they create a perfect opportunity to fly kites almost any day.
