Mr. Coconuts

The kids have named him Mr. Coconuts.  He is the resident iguana who lives under the coconut tree beside the pool.

Introducing ... Mr. Coconuts

This is the life!
A home by the pool with warm heated tiles (by the sun), and visitors
who come by to say hello each day.

There are iguana's all over here.  They love to sit out in the sun during the day and sunbathe.

Reptiles are cold-blooded (endothermic). Put simply, this means they have no means to regulate their body temperature like mammals (and humans) can. The only way for them to warm up their bodies is to bask on a large rock, or open area, in direct sunlight - thus absorbing the warmth of the suns rays. Once sufficiently warmed, they are free to go off in search of food etc.

You often can find them climbing the walls of the buildings.
